New York City Pt. 1: The U.S. Open

Last year, the 2017 U.S. Open was the first time I really followed a tennis tournament from start to finish. Jett was about a month old and it really gave me something to look forward to every evening. So I was very excited for the opportunity to actually GO this year for Brandon's 30th birthday. He had never been to a major tournament - which has been his dream for years, but just never got around to going. I knew that gifting him this trip would be the PERFECT present after all these years of him playing and loving tennis.

We arrived in New York on Thursday, and planned to spend the entire next day- Friday at the Open with general admission tickets, so that we could hop from court to court to see a couple of different matches. The weather was a bit overcast and a very comfortable 75 degrees or so, making for the perfect day to sit outside and watch tennis (we ended up staying a total of 10 hours at the matches!).

Growing up I can count on one hand the number of times I actually played tennis. I didn't know really anything about the sport at all until I met Brandon (who now plays about 2-3 times a week, and is determined to get Jett with a racquet in his hand before age 2) and now I find myself really enjoying watching it on TV when Brandon has it on...which is a LOT, I am always amazed at how tennis tournaments seem to run constantly year round.

Overall, we had such a great time ( I know Brandon was on cloud 9!) and maybe we will just have to make it an annual thing!
